AI keyword research: what people search, and where you can win

Keyword research in Citeon AI reads what you sell from your own site, finds the searches people type for it in your market, groups them into topics, and tells you for each one whether to improve a page you have, write a new one, or skip it, with the reason. Each topic carries its search demand, its difficulty, an estimate of demand in AI search, and your Google position.

In short
  • A keyword plan from your own site in three short steps, all filled in for you.
  • Each topic says improve a page, write one, or skip, and names the page.
  • 2,000 keywords a month on Visibility, 20,000 on Optimize, 100,000 on Enterprise.

What it does

Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode build their answers from pages in Google's index, so the searches people type still decide which pages AI reads. Keyword research tells you which of those searches you can win, and with which page of your site.

It works from what you actually sell, read from your site, instead of a list you have to invent, and it ends in a decision per topic rather than a spreadsheet to sort.

Find my keywords, in three steps

You do not start from an empty page. Citeon AI prepares a research by itself on your first visit and again every 30 days, with the same defaults the three steps fill in. New research runs the steps with your own choices, and Search any keyword checks the keywords you type.

StepWhat Citeon AI fills inWhat you do
1. What you sellUp to 12 phrases read from your site's menu, collections and headingsUntick what is wrong, add what is missing
2. Who you compete withThe rivals on your Competitors page, the ones AI names most firstPick up to three, or none
3. Where you sellYour market's country and languageRun the research

Each phrase in step 1 shows the label of your site it came from. Searches naming a brand, yours or a rival's, are left out and counted.

Citeon's own keyword plan, run on 12 October 2026: what we sell read from our site's menu, and three of the twelve topics, word for word. In the product each topic also shows its searches a month, difficulty, AI demand and your Google position.

What each topic tells you

FigureWhat it means
Searches a monthHow many people search the topic's keywords in your market, from the keyword data provider
Fit, 0 to 3How well the topic matches what you sell, on the business potential scale Ahrefs publishes in its keyword research guide
Within reachHow many of the ten sites ranking now have no more link strength than yours: a warning, not a reason to skip
DifficultyA score from 1 to 100 from the links of the pages ranking now, in the six words Semrush publishes, from very easy to very hard; where the supplier has no score, it says not measured, never very easy
Your GoogleYour average position over the last 28 full days in your market, from Search Console; without it, the page says there is no data
AI demandAn estimate of demand in AI search, modelled from Google's People Also Ask questions, labelled as modelled; not a count of prompts

Topics are ordered by fit, then by demand. The research opens in views: Plan, All keywords, Close to page one (your Google position 4 to 20, with Search Console), Easy (a difficulty under 30) and Questions, and a view with nothing in it is hidden. Every keyword has its intent and trend, with filters and a CSV export.

From a keyword to an AI answer

Any keyword in the plan can be tracked in AI answers in one click: it becomes one of your tracked questions, and the scans show whether the engines on your plan name you for it. On Optimize and Enterprise a topic also goes to your content plan in one click, where the content autopilot drafts the page for your approval.

Questions people ask

What is AI keyword research?

Keyword research that also asks where AI search is heading: Citeon AI finds the searches people type for what you sell, groups them into topics, and shows each topic's demand, difficulty, an estimate of demand in AI search, and the page on your site that should win it.

Where does the data come from?

Search demand, difficulty and the sites ranking now come from a keyword data provider; your own Google position comes from your Search Console, for your market's country, when you have connected it. AI demand is an estimate modelled from Google's People Also Ask questions, labelled as such, not a count of prompts.

Why are brand searches left out?

Someone searching a brand name wants that brand. The wizard leaves out searches naming your brand or a rival's, and says how many it left out.

Do I need Search Console?

No, but it makes the plan sharper. Without it the column says there is no data rather than showing a position, and the wizard cannot tell you which searches you already rank fourth to twentieth for.

How many keywords can I research?

Visibility includes 2,000 keywords a month, Optimize 20,000 and Enterprise 100,000. A search is counted in keywords; reopening a past search is free, and a read that fails counts nothing.

Can Citeon write the content for a topic?

On Optimize and Enterprise a topic goes to your content plan in one click, and the content autopilot drafts it for your approval.
