Google says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews beyond the standard search fundamentals. What the overview then says about you is another matter, and it behaves unlike the chat engines.

About tracking AI Overviews.
What is an AI Overviews tracker?
A tool that asks Google the questions your buyers ask, every day, reads the AI Overview at the top of the results when there is one, and records whether your business is named in it, whether it is presented as the pick, and which pages the overview cites. Search Console reports clicks and impressions from AI Overviews inside its totals; it does not say what the overview said about you.
How often does an AI Overview name a business?
In our measurements Google AI Overviews names the business asked about in 42.4% of answers, the highest of the five engines, and presents it as the pick in 12.7%, the lowest. It lists; it rarely chooses.
What does Google AI Overviews cite?
Across our answers the platforms AI Overviews cites most are youtube.com, reddit.com, facebook.com, instagram.com. It is the only engine in our data that puts social platforms first. Google's own guidance says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews: a page has to be indexed and eligible for a snippet.
Is tracking AI Overviews included in every plan?
Google AI Overviews is tracked on the Optimize plan (199 euro a month), together with ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. The Visibility plan (59 euro a month) tracks three of the four chat engines. Both start with a 3-day free trial on monthly billing.
Does it track Google AI Mode as well?
Yes, since 7 October 2026, as a sixth engine on the Optimize plan, measured separately from AI Overviews because the two answer differently. AI Mode answers join the data page once there are enough of them to report; the figures on this page are AI Overviews only.
Can I see the overview itself?
Yes. Every score links to the answer it was taken from, so you read what the overview said, in Google's words, on that day.
