AI product descriptions, written from your own product data
AI product descriptions in Citeon AI write a new description for a Shopify product from the facts in your own product data, in the language of your shop, then flag every sentence that data does not back. You check those points and approve; then you copy the text in, or apply it with the Shopify app, with undo.
- Written from your product data: name, brand, type, tags, options, collections and your current text.
- Every sentence your data does not back is flagged for you to check before you approve.
- 200 proposals a month on Optimize, 1,000 on Enterprise, for Shopify shops.
What it does
The description is the text AI shopping feeds carry about each product: OpenAI's product feed requires one, and Google lists it among the recommended properties of a product in its merchant listing data.
Citeon AI writes a proposal from what your product data says, opens with what the product is, what it is made of and who it is for, and puts the details in a short list. Each sentence your data does not back is flagged for you to keep, fix or remove.

How a proposal is written
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| What it reads | Your shop's name, and the product's name, brand (left out when it is the shop's own name), type, tags, each option such as colours and sizes, its collections and its current description, plus a note from you of up to 1,000 characters. Price and stock are left out on purpose. |
| What it writes | Simple HTML, asked for 500 to 1,500 characters and never over 5,000: two opening sentences on what it is, what it is made of and who it is for, then a list of details. The writer is told to leave out price, sale, stock, shipping, delivery and time words, comparisons, links, the shop name, superlatives and exclamation marks. |
| What you check | Points in four groups: facts that disagree, sentences not in your product data, your wording changed, and what was left out from your text. When there is anything beyond what was left out, Approve stays off until you tick that you checked it. |
| What you get | With a connected store, Apply writes the approved text to the product, reads it back and keeps an undo. Without one, Copy HTML for your shop admin, or Copy text for product feeds. You can edit in place, write another, and compare the five newest proposals. |
Your tracked questions that share a word with the product title are given to the writer as context, never as a claim.
Google Merchant Center and AI text
Google Merchant Center asks that descriptions written with generative AI go in its structured description attribute, marked as made by an algorithm, instead of the plain description. Under every proposal Citeon AI says so, so you can check which field your feed app fills.

Questions people ask
Does Citeon change my shop?
Only what you approve. You read the proposal, edit it if you want, and approve it. With your store connected through Citeon's Shopify app, Apply writes it to the product, reads it back from the store, and keeps an undo; without a connected store you copy it in: Copy HTML for your shop admin, Copy text for product feeds.
Which shops does it work for?
Shopify shops. Citeon reads the product data your shop already publishes, so writing proposals needs nothing installed. Applying them to your store needs the store connected.
Can it invent facts about my product?
It is written from the facts in your product data, and every sentence the data does not back is flagged as a point to check. While such points are open, Approve stays off until you tick that you checked them.
Which language does it write in?
The language of the product's current description, or your market's language when there is none.
Why are price and stock left out?
They change, and Google Merchant Center asks that descriptions carry no price, sale, shipping or delivery text. The proposal leaves them to your product data and feed.
How many can I write?
200 proposals a month on Optimize and 1,000 on Enterprise. The five newest proposals for a product are shown side by side to compare.
