The Best AI Visibility Tools in 2026, Honestly Compared

Laptop showing data visualizations and analytics charts

AI visibility tools answer one question: when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity for a recommendation in your market, does your brand come up? The category is young, the pricing spreads from 29 dollars to four figures, and the differences are real. We run one of these tools, so instead of pretending to be neutral we did something more useful: we pulled the live pricing pages and documentation of every serious tool in the category on the same day, and put the verified numbers side by side. Where a rival is the better choice for you, we say so.

What actually separates these tools

Every tool in the table sends real buyer questions to AI engines and counts who gets named. The differences that matter in practice are four:

  • Which engines you get at the entry price. Profound tracks only ChatGPT at 99 dollars. Writesonic includes 3 engines until you reach Enterprise. Otterly includes 4 but sells Claude as an add-on that costs up to 439 dollars per month on its own. Trakkr and Rankscale include everything on every plan.
  • Who does the work. This is the biggest split. Peec, Profound, Trakkr, Rankscale and Otterly show you the problem. Fixing it, writing the content, adding the schema, earning the citations, is your job. Citeon's Optimize plan (€299/mo) is built the other way around: the platform generates the fixes and the content, you approve, it ships and then re-measures daily to prove the effect.
  • Seats and projects. Unlimited team members is now the category norm (Peec, Otterly, Rankscale, AthenaHQ and Citeon all include it). Charging per seat, as Writesonic, Profound and Scrunch do, is the exception. Multiple brands under one subscription: Peec Pro gives 2 projects at €205, Trakkr Scale gives 10 brands at £395, Citeon Optimize gives 3 projects on one shared prompt pool at €299.
  • Honest measurement. Ask how the tool handles a day it did not measure, and whether the answer text behind every verdict is stored in full. If a chart shows a zero for a day the scanner never ran, the trend is fiction. We publish our full methodology, including what we refuse to show, and store the complete AI answers so every verdict is verifiable word for word.

Tool by tool

Peec AI, the dashboard benchmark

Peec is the tool the category measures itself against, and its dashboards deserve the reputation. Starter is €85 per month for 50 prompts on 3 models of your choice, with unlimited users; Pro at €205 adds 150 prompts and a second project. There is a separate agency catalog from €175 per month with a shared credit pool across client projects. What Peec does not do is the work: it is tracking and analysis, done excellently, with the fixing left entirely to you. If you have an in-house SEO team that wants best-in-class charts, Peec is a strong choice.

Otterly.AI, the cheapest start

At 29 dollars for 15 prompts, Otterly's Lite plan is the lowest-commitment way to see whether AI even mentions you. Four engines are included; Gemini, AI Mode and Claude cost extra, and Claude is expensive as an add-on. The jump to Standard (189 dollars for 100 prompts) is steep. Otterly's blog of small honest experiments is one of the best learning resources in the niche.

Profound, built for enterprise

Profound publishes serious research from billions of AI citations, and enterprise brands take it seriously. But the entry math is hard to defend for a small business: 99 dollars per month tracks ChatGPT only, with one seat, billed yearly. The 399 dollar Growth tier adds Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. You are paying for the brand and the data studies; most of the engine coverage arrives only at custom enterprise pricing.

Trakkr, most models per pound

Trakkr's Growth plan at £79 includes all 8 models it tracks, 50 prompts, and 3 seats, which is genuinely good value for coverage. Scale (£395) is agency-shaped: 10 brands, unlimited seats, white-label add-on per brand. The product is younger than Peec's and the polish shows it, but the roadmap moves fast.

Writesonic, visibility bolted to a content suite

Writesonic's GEO product starts at 79 dollars (billed annually) with 50 prompts tracked daily on 3 platforms; all 10 platforms require Enterprise. Seats are tight (1 to 3, then 50 dollars per user) and projects are capped at 2 below Enterprise. It makes most sense if your team already writes with Writesonic.

Rankscale, AthenaHQ, Scrunch and Knowatoa, briefly

Rankscale starts at 20 dollars with all engines and unlimited seats, metered by credits that roll over; good for technical users who want to experiment cheaply. AthenaHQ has a free tier and unlimited members, with credits metering usage and the serious features gated to a 295 dollar tier and Enterprise. Scrunch AI starts at 250 dollars with a persona-driven approach aimed at larger brands. Knowatoa (59 dollars entry) covers unlimited sites with a shared question pool, but only 3 engines until the 199 dollar tier.

Citeon, where we fit

We built Citeon for the businesses most of these tools skip: SMBs and local businesses that do not have an SEO team waiting for a dashboard. Visibility (€89/mo) tracks 50 prompts, organized by buyer intent, daily across 3 engines of your choice, with fix cards that tell you exactly what to change and unlimited team members. Optimize (€299/mo) is the done-for-you tier: every engine plus Google AI Overviews daily, fixes applied to your site with your approval, content written and published on a calendar, up to 3 projects on one shared prompt pool. The honest caveat: if you want 10 tracked models or enterprise SSO today, Trakkr or Profound serve that better. If you want the AI answers about your business to actually change, that is the job we built the product around.

How to choose in five minutes

  • Just curious whether AI knows you exist: run a free checker first. Ours takes 15 minutes and needs no signup.
  • In-house SEO team, wants charts: Peec, or Trakkr if you want more models for less.
  • Enterprise brand, procurement process: Profound or Scrunch.
  • Small or local business that wants the problem fixed, not reported: that is Citeon, and it is who this product is for.

Frequently asked

Do these tools all measure the same thing?

Roughly: they ask AI engines buyer questions and record which brands are named. The differences are which engines, how often, whether answers are stored in full, and what happens after the measurement.

Why do prices for the same tool look different on other roundups?

Most vendors show annual prices by default and some price by region. Every number above is the monthly-billing price from the vendor's live page on the date shown, in the currency the vendor displays.

Is a free AI visibility checker enough?

For a first snapshot, yes. A single check tells you where you stand today. Tracking exists because AI answers change constantly, and because the point is to move the number, not to know it.
